if you guys bring back uwu smol beanboi shinji ikari defense squad culture in 2019 i’m pulling the extension cord on the simulation
no kid in eva deserved what they got and shitting on any of them while protecting the others is missing the point of the gotdamn show!!!!!!!
- #listen! theyre all fucked up!
- #asuka is a bitch and shinji is a spineless coward and rei is a callous cold girl and they alll wanna fucking die!!!!!
- #protect all eva children
- #but put shinji in time out for a bit he had no reason to nut over unconscious asuka
why are you people still like this
To get a foot ahead of the eventual new fan discourse that does exactly that, do you think there’s legitimacy in perhaps not “protecting” all the children from criticism, but at least in discouraging anyone from condemning (or absolving) them categorically? Or at least in a way that’s one-sided and doesn’t consider their collective circumstances (since not viewing others from a one-sided perspective is a core message of the show)? Or am I being too naive?
Like for sure don’t say “shinji’s a misogynist but that’s totally ok because his dad is controlling”,
but also don’t be like “asuka’s victimhood isn’t valid because she fails to relate to others without her pride corrupting any intended goodwill.” And the eschatological scale of the circumstances that the children are faced with also should not be disregarded in a reasonable and precise look at their (re)actions.
