It’s a killswitch(aka easiest guitar mod ever); when pressed it cuts the guitar’s volume until released, so one can do staccato things.

Nothing is the only option, really. My room seems to be the preferred entry point for mice and I have found them in my room several times, and in one case I found an old nest made of peanuts cutouts from newspapers in my desk that is rarely opened.
